首届上海朱家角国际水彩画双年展是由中国美术家协会和上海市青浦区人民政府联合主办的、旨在促进中外水彩画家的友谊，搭建一个国际性高端的水彩画交流平台，这是目前世界上唯一的一个固定举办的水彩画双年展。
此次展出254幅作品是从全球3000多幅作品中精选出来的，其中15幅经国际评委反复、认真、负责的评比，最终被评为此届展览的优秀作品。这些作品可以说是国际水彩画的精品，代表了当前水彩画的最高水平。

The inaugural Shanghai Zhujiajiao International Watercolour Biennial Exhibition was organized by the China Artists Association and Shanghai Qingpu District People’s Government. It is so far the only permanent international watercolour biennial in the world; it aims to promote the communication between watercolour artists around the globe and establish an international exchange platform for high-end watercolours.
This biennial received more than 3,000 entries from 19 countries and regions, 254 works were selected and displayed. Among them, after scrutinizing and painstaking selection by the international judging committee, 15 paintings were chosen for the award of excellence. These works could be regarded as master pieces of our time; they represent the highest standard and achievement in the art of watercolour.
